Alex Allpress is inspired by the landscape of the fens in Cambridgeshire where he grew up on the family farm. He states, 'from the bright yellow and green colours of spring which you can see for miles, to the bright blue skies and golden fields of summer. Even in the winter when a blanket of snow has fallen the sight can be awe inspiring. One of the real specialities of the fens is it’s sunsets. With vast skies the sunsets are huge, with bright reds, yellows and oranges filling the space. Nature is a big part of my life. I'm trying to capture the essence of life and growth that is all around me'.

Alongside his fine art sculptural work, he also produces a more functional 'Home Range', which is quite different in appearance, using much brighter and more vibrant colours that you find in nature.

Educated in Ceramics at Camberwell College of Arts, Alex has gone on the exhibit at galleries and fairs across the UK. He has recently relocated from Cambridgeshire to Stockwell in South London.
